When I played H264 files it worked without a problem. ![]() The Pi4 does not seem to be able to do 1080p HEVC content either or at least I could not find any contradictory data on this. I remembered that I read somewhere that HEVC content is a thing and that the Pi3 can only do that up to 720p. So far so good.īut playing anything on it made the video choppy and laggy even though it was direct play. So I tried to do it myself, there is a guide on how to do that here (if anyone is looking for it) that I used and it installed without problems. Even for the Pi3 there is no dedicated package or version and you have to use the "for Pi2" version to make it work. Well, first thing I remembered was RasPlex but that does not work or is even available on the Pi4 (yet). "Building your own player on a small Raspberry pi is a good Idea", or so I thought. I went through a few iterations to find a good player mainly for a better ASS/SSA support that does not require transcoding to display the styling of the subtitles. Please go to the relevant subreddits and support forums, for example:įrom my own experience it depends on the codecs of the file you play. ![]() Build help and build shares posts go in their respective megathreads No referral / affiliate links, personal voting / campaigning / funding, or selling posts Welcome to /r/Plex, a subreddit dedicated to Plex, the media server/client solution for enjoying your media!
